This post is an informative journalistic coverage of a PR event with editorial & reportage elements that do not aim to promote any business, organisation, product or service.
Today - on the day of publication- I'm a member of Ruokatoimittajat ry (Finnish Food Writers' Association) and attended this PR event as a food writer (not as an influencer).
16 January 2025 - helsinki
After being introduced to many farmers and food producers from the Salo-region at the 2024's ShowRoom event & the Welcome To Salo daytrip, I was excited to reconnect with them today and hear more about their plans for the new year. In the early afternoon I headed to the Pasila campus of Haaga-Helia to join this year's SaloFood ShowRoom 2.0 organised by YritysSalo's lovely host, Henna Kyyrä.
As most of the brands were introduced already in my previous covers (articles lined above), this time I aim to focus on the food producers' highlights for this year. The event has been opened with a non-alcoholic welcome drink: Lepola's apple-rhubarb lemonade followed by the speeches of each food producers, then we had the chance to have in-depth conversations and taste their samples at their stalls.

I had the pleasure to meet Simo and his family on many occasions & at many places since the frist SaloFood ShowRoom event. The last time they welcomed me and my fellow food writers to their home and spelt production plant at their farm which provided a great insights on what fuels Birkkalan Tila's success. I highly recommend checking out the family recipe bank on their website - some of these delicious spelt-based dishes has been integrated to our diet ever since I tried them for the first time. Today we had a hearthy day-starter in the spotlight.

Rooting from the know-how in their recipe from 1963, Antsun Sinappi is making mustard with domestically grown Finnish ingredients. In addition to the traditional mustard, there are new additions to their product family such as the garlic, cognac-infused, and a spicy chilli versions. When it comes to trying different mustard products, your knowledge and palate is definitely not complete without the so called "mustard caviar" - which by the way stole the spotlight at my family's festive table last Christmas!
Today's highlights:
- mustard caviar - aka pickled mustard seeds
- traditional, garlic, cognac-infused, and spicy chilli mustards
