This post is an informative journalistic coverage of a PR event with editorial & reportage elements that do not aim to promote any business, organisation, product or service.
Today - on the day of publication- I am a member of Ruokatoimittajat ry (Finnish Food Writers' Association), and attended this PR event as a food writer (not as an influencer).
2 September 2025 - Keilaniemi, Espoo
An afternoon with Fiskars is never just sitting and listening — it’s a full sensory experience.
This time, we gathered with fellow food writers to explore the brand's refreshed scissors, cookware, and sustainability updates, all topped with a live cooking demonstration.
September's unfolding buzz was the perfect time for a fresh cut — quite literally. Fiskars has given their iconic Classic scissors a makeover: all 12 models, including the beloved left-handed ones, now feature a new ergonomic handle design, improved comfort - yet they still have their legendary sharpness. Every pair is made in Billnäs, hand-finished, tested, and backed by a confident, 25-year guarantee.

But the real heat came from the cookware corner, as Fiskars has officially gone 100% plastic-free and PFAS-free across all pan coatings. Their new Ceratec™ Superior ceramic surface doesn’t release microplastics, even if scratched — meaning dinner is as clean as it is tasty. And no: the prices didn’t jump — a small but important victory for responsible cooking.
Everything is proudly made at the Sorsakoski factory, where they’ve been perfecting cookware for nearly 70 years - with each product being crafted from 90% recycled stainless steel, 100% recycled aluminium, and the brushed steel finish saves 80% of waste compared to polishing.
Another interesting fact: switching to ceramic coatings has cut energy use in the coating process by 30%!
Then came the fun part: Chef Petteri 'Pepe' Masalin rolled up his sleeves and cooked his way through fish, minced meat and eggs. His Pan School activated every participant, even the ones who like sitting quietly at the back — we got up close, asked questions, and witnessed expert demonstration & product comparison.
Our expert hosts shared their golden rules for ceramic pans, too:
- Don’t heat them empty
- Always add oil or butter first
- Use medium heat, not max power - btw, who else is guilty of using the induction's boost on autopilot? 😅
- Let them cool before washing
- Store so the surface stays scratch-free

If the coating ever wears out, no need to throw the pan away — you can now have it re-coated at Iittala and Iittala Outlet stores. They’ll even take back old pans through their annual recycling campaign.
Everything in the range feels like one big, happy family — lids fit across pots and pans, handles feel natural in the hand, and yes, the enamelled cast iron range is still here for those who love the perfect sear.
The event proved that great design can be smart, sustainable, and seriously fun to use. Fiskars has turned everyday cookware into something that’s easy to love — and even easier to cook with.
I had the pleasure of attending this PR event and being introduced to the new products and updates of Fiskars.
